JamBase: Pro-Shot Video - "Sweet Somewhere Bound" - Live at Sweetwater Music Hall

March 25 - "Sweet Somewhere Bound" - Live from Sweetwater Music Hall On Saturday Jackie Greene continued a six-show residency at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, California. As reported, Friday’s first show of the Jackie Greene Band’s Spring Tour featured a complete performance of the singer-songwriter’s 2002 album Gone Wanderin’ as well as several special covers regularly played back when the record was initially released. Jackie and his band stuck to a similar script for Saturday’s show which included a complete performance of 2004’s Sweet Somewhere Bound and more songs the multi-instrumentalist liked to play in that time period.

Greene and his band made up of bassist Jon Cornell, drummer Fitz Harris, guitarist Nathan Dale and Jason Crosby adding fiddle and keyboards had previously announced that the Sweetwater residency would feature the complete performance of six of the multi-instrumentalist’s studio albums. Saturday’s show started with a track-by-track rendering of the 13 songs making up Sweet Somewhere Bound, beginning with “About Cell Block #9” and progressing to the closing “Don’t Mind Me, I’m Only Dying Slow.”

Jackie kicked off the back end of the concert with a solo rendition of Robert Johnson’s “Come On In My Kitchen.” Greene then moved to keys and was accompanied by Nathan Dale for “Bright Star,” a song he wrote for Chris Webster. The rest of the band emerged for a trio of covers: Bob Dylan’s “Subterranean Homesick Blues,” “Five Long Years” by Eddie Boyd and Bukka White’s “Parchman Farm.” For the second night in a row Jackie encored with a song off his 2003 album Rusty Nails, as Saturday’s selection was “The Rusty Nail.”

Tonight the Jackie Greene Band will perform the 2006 album American Myth at Sweetwater. A free Facebook Live webcast is available via this link. Watch official footage of the complete Saturday night show in Mill Valley below:
